Sofija
Bunardžić, an academic painter-potter, born in 1955 in Split
(Croatia).
She finished "The School of Applied Arts" in Split,
at the department of applied graphics in the class of prof.
Petar Jakelic in 1974.
She graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in
the class of prof. Djordje Rosic in 1979 at the subject ceramic
design – section of pottery and glass.
She had 4 individual exhibitions, 21 author's exhibition and
more than 100 joint competitive exhibitions in the country and
abroad. She took part in 15 international colonies and symposiums
of ceramics.
She
is the author of the project "Zlakusa Pottery" and
a creator and organizer of The International Colony of Art Pottery
"Zlakusa" Užice. The artists create their artistic
works at The International Colony of Art Pottery in a technique
unique in the modern pottery – the technique so called "Zlakusa"
or "Sofija-Zlakusa".
She
has won many prizes and recognitions, among which ULUPUDS praise
(1996) for her merit in vocational promotion and ULUPUDS Plaquette
(2003) for her creative work, an independent exhibition of pottery
named "By the trace of fire" held in August 2003 in
"The Old Village" Museum at Sirogojno village, as
well as for a successful execution of The Eighth International
Colony of Art Pottery "Zlakusa 2003".
She
has been a member of ULUPUDS since 1982. She became the first
independent artist in the district of Zlatibor (Serbia) in 1981.
Today
she is a professor in The School of Art in Užice, department
for artistic ceramics.
